NHS Evidence - neurological conditions

- all of the evidence you need in one place

Welcome

NHS Evidence - neurological conditions is a specialist collection which aims to provide access to the best available evidence within neurological conditions to NHS healthcare professionals. It is not intended to replace databases like PubMed, which provide access to journal articles.  Although targeted at health professionals, patients, carers and the general public will find useful information on the site.

To get the best out of the site, please refer to our User Guide for tips about effective searching and navigation.

Professional and Patient Organisations

We have put together a list of professional organisations associated with neurological conditions and topics.

Professional associations and organisations

The Patient Support Information web site compiled by the staff of the Library at the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery, provides details of neurological charities, societies, support groups and forums. It provides signposts to useful sources of information for people with neurological disorders and their carers and covers more than 260 neurological conditions.   This resource is also used by patients with Information Prescriptions and by health care professionals compiling information to give to patients and carers.

If you would like to suggest an organisation for addition to this list, please contact us.

 DUETs

DUETs logoThe neurological conditions specialist collection contributes to DUETs, the Database of Uncertainties about the Effects of Treatments. DUETs has been established in the UK to publish uncertainties that cannot currently be answered by referring to reliable up-to-date systematic reviews of existing research evidence.

DUETs draws on three main sources to identify uncertainties about the effects of treatments:

  • patients', carers' and clinicians' questions about the effects of treatments
  • research recommendations in reports of systematic reviews and clinical guidelines
  • ongoing research, both systematic reviews in preparation and new 'primary' studies

Visit the DUETs website for more details.
