This Annual Evidence Update on Osteoarthritis was prepared to co-incide with World Arthritis Day 2008.
This annual evidence update has been prepared by the Clinical Leads and Information Specialists for the Musculoskeletal and Orthopaedic Specialist Libraries and is based on a search of the literature for papers published in the year ending 31 August 2008.
There is a brief section on Guidance and Pathways published during the year, then a list of the systematic reviews and meta-analyses published in this period. We have deliberately restricted this material to systematic reviews, partly because this is a large topic area and partly because systematic reviews are generally recognised as constituting the highest quality evidence in order to inform clinical practice.

Methodology: following the search, abstracts were reviewed by the Clinical Leads and Information Specialists and those that were not deemed relevant were rejected. A total of 8 Guidelines and 26 systematic reviews and meta-analyses remained after this process and these are listed below with links to citations in the Specialist Libraries or on PubMed. Their inclusion does not imply endorsement and the Specialist Library does not accept responsibility for the content or quality of included studies.
