Welcome to NHS Evidence - musculoskeletal

NHS Evidence - musculoskeletal exists primarily to support the work of NHS health professionals in the field of musculoskeletal disorders in the UK.  Patients and the public are also welcome to browse the site although a small amount of the content is only available to NHS and University staff.   By providing easy access to NHS Core Content and a variety of other handpicked resources we aim to provide the latest and best available evidence and information to support practice.  The site is being developed and run by a team drawn from the many disciplines whose work lies in this area.  If you are new to the site you may wish to view this.  You may also wish to vist our ‘sister’ site, NHS Evidence - trauma and orthopaedics.  We very much welcome participation and feedback on the work of this collection.

2009 Annual Evidence Update on Psoriatic Arthritis

During September NHS Evidence - musculoskeletal, conducted a literature search of PubMed, AMED, BNI, CINAHL, EMBASE, MEDLINE, and PsychINFO using the SIGN filter and the PubMed systematic review filter with limits of Human and English Language, 66 records for the year 2008 - 2009 were retrieved. After sifting these records, only 16 citations were deemed to be systematic reviews. These citations were then forwarded to our Clinical Lead, Dr Ray Armstrong, and Dr Philip Helliwell who found that many of the reviews were not particularly focused on psoriatic arthritis and that after examination, the material was felt to be insufficiently important to warrant an evidence update at present. Therefore, it was decided that NHS Evidence - musculoskeletal would not produce an Annual Evidence Update for 2009, but that the literature would be again reviewed in 2010.
