Welcome to NHS Evidence - complementary and alternative medicine
About this website
This specialist collection is a unique resource which aims to provide access to good quality, up-to-date, relevant information on complementary and alternative medicine. The content of the collection is intended primarily for health professionals, CAM practitioners and researchers, but the majority of the information is also accessible by patients, carers and the general public.
To find out more about the CAM specialist collection please see the About us and Collection Development pages. This resource will continue to be developed and updated and we would welcome comments and suggestions from our users.
We have recently extended the scope of our searches for systematic reviews. We now search for systematic reviews on all CAM topics including those listed under the heading Other Therapies or Medical Systems. We recently completed the task of adding all relevant systematic reviews published in 2008 to the collection. We are now working on systematic reviews published in 2009 and these will be added over the next few months.
NHS Evidence Specialist Collections
Provided by NICE, NHS Evidence is a new service which will develop, enhance and expand the services that were previously provided by the National Library for Health (NLH). The NLH and its specialist libraries became part of NHS Evidence on 1 April 2009. Release 1 of the NHS Evidence portal and search engine went live on 30th April 2009 at www.evidence.nhs.uk.
As part of ongoing developments, the specialist libraries have changed their names and are, as a group, called specialist collections. This individual collection is now called NHS Evidence – complementary and alternative medicine, and you will continue to be able to access all the content and features. The existing URL for the collection will remain for now, but is likely to change later in the year as the specialist collections become fully integrated with the NHS Evidence portal.
